Pet Treat Brands

Built for fat, grease and a dog owner's grip.

High-barrier structures that stop rancidity, in formats that survive a 25 lb fill.

Kraft pet-treat pouch with a copper zipper and a forest-green label, a window showing jerky treats, on a rustic table
The problem

Fatty treats go rancid through a thin film, and a bag that splits at the gusset in a distributor's warehouse costs you the account.

Every claim in this note is drawn from a published manufacturer spec page - sources listed below.

Foil laminate is explicitly recommended for pet foods and for oil- and fat-containing products that need oxidation protection. Format follows fill weight: side-gusseted conforms well to pellets and carries heavy weights, flat-bottom suits 5-10 lb and accommodates up to 25 lb, and quad-seal is the durability pick that does not require a zipper. Stand-up pouches are the viable format for cat food and smaller animal feed.

Structures

Materials we'd put you in

PET / AL / PE Maximum

PET outer for strength/heat resistance, aluminium foil middle for barrier, PE inner sealant (melt point ≈110 °C). Recommended for moisture-sensitive foods, oils/fats prone to oxidation, and UV-sensitive teas and spices.

Published OTR: ≈0.005-0.006 (WVTR and OTR near zero)

PET / VMPET / PE High

Most of the foil barrier at lower cost and better flex-crack resistance.

Kraft / Foil or Kraft / PE Moderate to Maximum depending on liner

Kraft paper and plastic film are the two most common exteriors; both can be laminated with a foil lining for longer shelf life. Commonly run at 5-6 mil in stock ranges for an earthy retail feel.

Mono-Material PE (Recyclable) Moderate to High

All layers are polyethylene-family (HDPE for stiffness, LLDPE for sealability, barrier PE grades for oxygen/moisture) so they reprocess together. Qualifies for the How2Recycle Store Drop-off label - retail film bins, NOT curbside.
